Our Story

Over 17 years ago, First Baptist Church of Monett purchased land just south of Monett Missouri. Based on Jeremiah 31:21 and due to its location right near the highway they called the property "Waymark". As the capital campaign began, it was called, “Windows at Waymark”. On the day the ground was broken the project was called, “Walls at Waymark”. Finally, in 2011 there was a celebration honoring what God had done throughout the build and this worship service was called, “Worship on Waymark”. In April of 2021, through obedience to God's will, we adopted the identity of Waymark Church. Through this change of identity we have a new desire to reach out into our community and to share Jesus Christ with a world in need of a Savior.

Jeremiah 31:21 says, “Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.”
Merriam-Webster defines waymark as this: an object serving as a guide to someone traveling. What this means is that in everything we do, we strive to point people to Jesus and be the Waymark in our community.

What we believe

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is at the center of everything. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, and lived a perfect life. We believe that Jesus is the only one who can reconcile us to God. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to prove His victory and empower us for life. We believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again as He promised.

01

The Trinity

We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He is totally loving and completely holy.

02

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. It is accurate, authoritative, and applicable to our everyday lives. We believe that it is the inspired Word of God written by man under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We also see in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 that, “16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

03

The Separation

We believe that sin has separated each of us from God and His purpose for our lives. In Genesis 3 we see the fall of man and the beginning of the plan of God to bring us back to our designed relationship with Him.

04

The Reconciliation

We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and a fresh start with God, we must repent of our sins, confess with our mouths, believe in Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, and commit to His will for our lives. (Romans 10:9)

05

The Church

We believe in the power and significance of the Church and the necessity of believers to meet regularly together. We believe that the church is not the building we meet in but rather the people who gather together to further the work of Jesus Christ.
